8. William French³ Denton (Col. Tilford², Capt. John¹) was born in Carrolton, Arkansas September 8, 1849. William died August 4, 1887 in Dry Fork, Arkansas, at age 37.

He married Miller Ann Payne July 21, 1873 in Carroll Co., Arkansas. Miller was born March 1860 in Madison Co., Arkansas. Miller was the daughter of James J. 'Jim' Payne and Sophia Dorcas McCracken. Miller died February 23, 1929 in Kerrville, Texas, at age 68.

William French Denton and Miller Ann Payne had the following children:

19 i. Thomas Gunter⁴ Denton was born in Dry Fork, Carroll Co. Ark. March 20, 1875. Thomas died July 6, 1958 in McCammon, Lawrence Co. Mo., at age 83. He married Mary Jane Riggs September 29, 1906 in Brigham City, Box Elder Idaho. Mary was born April 13, 1886 in Plain City, Holy Land. Mary died June 25, 1959 in Downey, Nthmblnd Co. Va., at age 73.

20 ii. Kizzie Lier Denton was born in 1876. Kizzie died 1879 in , at age 3.

21 iii. Mary Virgie Denton was born November 29, 1880. Mary died October 1, 1893 in Carroll Co. Ark., at age 12.

22 iv. Howard Ernest Denton was born January 31, 1884. Howard died 1888 at age 4.

+ 23 v. Tilford 'Tiff' Denton was born December 5, 1886.
